The world-famous Antalya Marina has fallen silent

The historic Kaleiçi Marina in Antalya, which usually attracts thousands of tourists every year, is struggling to draw visitors. Economic issues in the country have affected boat tours. This year, the Antalya Kaleiçi Marina, typically visited by millions, is experiencing a slump in yacht tours due to the European Football Championship being held in Europe and the scorching summer temperatures in Antalya. Abdullah Demircan, President of the Kaleiçi Marina Cooperative, stated, "We are currently operating at about 30% of the expected level."

“WE ARE CURRENTLY OPERATING AT ABOUT 30% OF THE EXPECTED LEVEL”

Abdullah Demircan, President of the Kaleiçi Marina Cooperative, noted that the extreme heat in Antalya and the poor economic situation of the local population have led to yacht tours operating at about 30% of the expected level. He said, "Due to the World Cup and the extremely hot weather in Antalya, our business is a bit weak. Since our people’s economic situation is not good, we are currently operating at about 30% of the expected level.

There is not a high customer potential right now. This includes the agencies. We get tourists from all over the world—Germany, England, every country you can think of. Russia, China, Japan... We have customers from everywhere. There isn’t a predominant customer base. Since we are in the city, we have all kinds of customers."

LACK OF INTEREST FROM THE LOCAL POPULATION

President Demircan also mentioned that there is not much interest from the local population. He emphasized that they are trying to offer reasonable pricing for the locals, saying, “The tours vary depending on the situation. Sometimes they depart every 15 minutes, sometimes every hour. It depends on the current demand. However, there isn’t much interest from the local population. We didn’t increase the prices much this year, but since entertainment is the last link in the chain, people spend money on other things first. That’s why it’s not very popular right now. We work like this: the prices for agencies are separate. The prices for locals are normal, there isn’t much difference. We try to make it as affordable as possible for the local population."
