MSC Cruises is pioneering the future of cruise tourism
Breaking new ground in terms of design and guest experience, MSC Cruises hosted the Naming Ceremony of MSC World Europa, the world's environmentally oriented cruise ship, in Doha, Qatar. MSC World Europa sets a new standard for the cruise industry, while offering a real world of diverse experiences at sea.
MSC World Europa joins the fleet as the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered vessel in the MSC Cruises fleet and the most environmentally advanced vessel to date. The fuel it uses, LNG, is one of the world's cleanest marine fuels and is planned to play a key role in decarbonizing international shipping.
With this technology, MSC World Europa virtually eliminates local air pollutant emissions such as sulfur oxides and reduces nitrogen oxides by up to 85 percent. LNG will also play an important role in mitigating climate change, as it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 25 percent and paves the way for the uptake of sustainable non-fossil fuels, including green hydrogen.
