Merve Dizdar received the "Best Actress" award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as "Nuray" in the film "Kuru Otlar Üstüne" directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
The film is about young art teacher Samet (Deniz Celiloğlu), who has finished his compulsory service in a village in Turkey and loses hope of leaving until he meets another teacher, Nuray (Merve Dizdar).
Samet is a young teacher who dreams of being assigned to Istanbul after serving four years in a village in Eastern Anatolia. However, Samet's dreams are shattered when he and his colleague Kenan are falsely accused of harassment by two female students. Things change when she meets another teacher, Nuray, who can help her overcome his troubles.
