The decision in the sale of secondhand cars started to work

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was reminded that with the amendment made in the Regulation on the Trade of Second-Hand Motor Vehicles, the marketing of second-hand motor land vehicles through advertisements at a price higher than the current sales price recommended by the manufacturer or distributor is prohibited until January 1, 2024.

Reminding that all real and legal persons were warned by "advertising platforms" at the stage of posting announcements within the scope of the regulation that came into force as of July 15, it was reported that despite this warning, the advertisements placed in violation of the aforementioned ban and the information regarding the advertisers were conveyed to the Ministry and followed up.

In the statement, the latest situation regarding the results obtained from the application was also shared, and the following statements were included:

"It has been determined that the total number of individual and commercial advertisements, both individual and commercial, that were published on the advertisement platforms prior to the entry into force of the advertisement restriction regulation, was over 20 thousand. As a result of the warnings and notifications made to its members by the advertisement platforms and the public notifications made by our Ministry, it has been observed that this number has decreased to the level of 7 thousand since July 15, when the regulation took effect. In the last examination, it was understood that the total number of advertisements that may constitute a violation of the aforementioned regulation fell below 5 thousand. In this context, information regarding the aforementioned advertisements was obtained from the relevant advertisement platforms and the examination of these was started by our Ministry.

As a result of the examination carried out by the Ministry, administrative fines of up to 300 thousand liras were imposed per advertisement on real and legal persons who made advertisements that were found to be in violation of the restriction.

Maximum care and precision expected

In the statement, it was pointed out that the utmost care and sensitivity is expected from all citizens and businesses that place individual or commercial advertisements on advertisement platforms to post vehicle advertisements in compliance with the advertisement restriction that came into force on July 15, and noted the following:

"As it is known, in individual sales, a maximum of three vehicles are allowed to be sold in one year, and sales above this require a penal sanction as it is considered commercial activity. Persons who sell by proxy, including their immediate relatives, have been examined by our Ministry and the necessary penal actions are taken. In addition, the information of the persons identified for the continuation of the transactions within the scope of the tax inspection is submitted to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
