Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is expanding its travel experience to popular destinations worldwide with new collaborations. Recently, in partnership with Air Arabia Egypt, flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Cairo (CAI) will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays starting from April 6th.
Being Turkey's second-largest airport, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport has added Air Arabia Egypt airline to its short-haul routes, connecting to Cairo. The inaugural flight from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) to Cairo (CAI) took off on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, and was welcomed with a water salute upon arrival. The ceremony, held to celebrate Air Arabia Egypt's first flight, was attended by Air Arabia's Eastern Europe Regional Manager Nuket Angın and ISG senior management. The cabin crew and passengers were greeted with flowers, and Turkish delight was served to guests. With Air Arabia Egypt joining the Sabiha Gökçen Airport network, it becomes the 47th airline serving the airport. The SAW-CAI flights will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, in both directions.
Air Arabia Egypt becomes the fourth airline operating flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Egypt and the fourth airline in the Air Arabia Group hosted by Sabiha Gökçen Airport. With direct flights from Cairo, the number of cities Air Arabia serves from Istanbul increases to six. In addition to flights to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and to Casablanca, Tangier, and Fez in Morocco, Istanbul-Cairo flights have commenced. With the second runway opened, Sabiha Gökçen has increased its capacity and currently serves a total of 167 destinations in 55 countries with 40 domestic and 127 international connections. Operating under the motto "City's Airport," Sabiha Gökçen Airport provides access to Turkey and many destinations worldwide from Istanbul, having opened seven new international routes since the beginning of 2024.
"Improvements will continue for the most comfortable flight experience"
CEO of ISG Executive Board, Serhat Soğukpınar, stated, "As we prepare for the summer season, we are very pleased to connect Istanbul, a city with a high tourism and trade capacity, to another tourism and trade destination, Egypt, through a new collaboration. This not only increases our weekly flights to Cairo but also adds diversity with the participation of a different airline. Our efforts to provide our guests with the most comfortable travel experience will continue at full speed. We will continue to see new destinations with new airlines at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. We wish it to be beneficial for our country."
