Alef Aeronautics announced that it has received more than $ 250 million pre-orders for its electric flying car. That means hundreds of cars are pre-ordered at $300,000 each.
Pre-orders are on the rise for the $300,000 flying electric car that has received FAA approval for test flights. The Californian company that developed the vehicle, Alef Aeronautics, told Insider on Monday that customers have placed more than $250 million in pre-orders for the Model A since October.
Although Alef does not share exact figures, this figure shows the number of individual vehicles pre-ordered as at least 834. Alef previously stated that 440 vehicles were pre-ordered in the fourth quarter of 2022, including an order placed by a large Hong Kong-based aerospace technology company.
The Model A went on pre-sale in October, and buyers can deposit $150 or $1,500 to join the so-called priority queue. At that time, Alef announced that it planned to deliver its first vehicles in the last three months of 2025.
Alef announced last week that it has received a Special Airworthiness Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration for the vehicle. Alef said the certificate has strict limits for the places and purposes the vehicle is allowed to fly.
