AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Abdullah Güler, made statements to journalists in the Parliament together with the primary signatory of the proposal, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Digital Platforms and AK Party Deputy from Hatay, Hüseyin Yayman.

According to the information provided by Güler, the draft law titled "Amendments to the Tourist Guiding Profession Law and the Travel Agencies and Association of Travel Agencies Law" consists of 14 articles, including provisions related to execution and enforcement.

The proposal aims to address the inadequacy of certificate programs opened by professional organizations by allowing national or regional tourist guiding training programs to be organized by relevant institutions upon the request of the Ministry of Tourism.

Regarding applications for admission to the profession, a proficiency exam for foreign languages will be conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

To increase the number of guides, especially in Far Eastern languages such as Chinese, encouraging regulations for guide candidates are introduced. Furthermore, facilitating the eligibility of graduates from university departments of art history and archaeology, with proficiency in foreign languages, to become tourist guides is also included in the proposal.

Additionally, some changes regarding travel agencies are proposed in the draft law.

Accordingly, changes are made to eliminate the requirement for having a tourist guide during activities that do not primarily aim to promote historical and touristic sites.

The proposal also regulates that if travel agencies provide benefits to themselves or to the persons they direct to a specific establishment for shopping purposes without the knowledge and consent of their customers, their licenses will be revoked by the Ministry, and they will be prohibited from operating as travel agencies for five years.
