The population of the Quiet Town, which has 6,000 residents, has risen to 80,000

Akyaka Neighborhood in Ula, which holds the Quiet Town title and is located at the far end of the Gökova Gulf, Turkey's most important blue cruise route, reached peak levels of crowding during this holiday period, as it does every Eid holiday. The traffic queue at the entrance to Akyaka by road reached approximately 3 kilometers, causing many drivers to turn back upon seeing the line. The 250-meter-long beach in Akyaka had no space left for sunbeds and umbrellas. The sea surface was almost completely covered with people, and this level of crowding is expected to continue until the weekend. Akyaka’s local headman, Feridun Özsoy, stated, "As with every holiday, our Quiet Town Akyaka Neighborhood is experiencing the holiday rush again. Normally, we have around 6,000 residents. This holiday, our population has increased to about 80,000, which is 15 times our normal population. Our Metropolitan Municipality and Ula Municipality are working with all their might to ensure our holidaymakers have a better vacation, including both infrastructure and facilities. Ula Municipality had only one public beach. With a new project, we turned the area across from Azmak into a beach for public use and have started providing service there as well, ensuring its security. We ask our holidaymakers to be sensitive about fire safety as the temperature has risen and humidity has dropped. Our Metropolitan Municipality and Ula Municipality continue to serve our community. Our gendarmerie ensures the safety of our people. Our only wish is for everyone to have a good and peaceful holiday and to return home safely without any accidents," he said.
