3 million visitors visited the Mevlana Museum in 11 months
Mevlana Museum, which is visited by millions of people coming to Konya from all over the world every year, and which has an important potential in terms of culture, history and faith tourism, continues to be one of the most visited museums in Turkey.
Located in the central Karatay district of Konya and considered the center of Mevlevi, the Museum welcomes many visitors from both domestic and abroad.
The Mevlana Museum, which was converted into a museum in 1926 by the decision of the Council of Ministers, has nearly 10 thousand works in its collection.
In the Recitation Room, there are signs related to calligraphy, oil lamps and candlesticks given by state administrators during the Seljuk, Principalities and Ottoman periods, while Mevlana and Mevlevi clothing are exhibited in a separate collection.
Attracts People Of Every Nation
Konya Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Abdüssettar Yarar said that the 749th Vuslat Anniversary International Commemoration Ceremonies of Mevlana continue in the city, and that they are pleased to host many tourists due to the ceremonies.
Emphasizing that the Mevlana Museum is a museum that attracts the attention of people of all nationalities, Yarar said, "Before the epidemic, the Mevlana Museum was the most visited museum in Turkey. Again last year, it was the most visited museum after the epidemic. Last year's figure was 1 million 880 thousand. This year, there are 2 million 905 thousand people. About 10 percent of this is foreign guests and the others are our local guests. We have the Shebiarus Ceremony on December 17. It is estimated that the number will exceed 3 million with our guests coming on this date and after December 17. we do," he said.
Far Eastern Countries Show Great Interest
Explaining that the museum, which received more visitors from Iran during the Shabiarus ceremonies, hosts mostly Far Eastern guests throughout the year, Yarar said:
"In addition to our guests from countries such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Lebanon, we also see our guests from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. When we spread this throughout the year, we see that Far East countries, Malaysia, Indonesia and Korea have priority. Apart from that, we host many people from all cities of Turkey who come to visit Mevlana here."
Yarar added that Hazrat Mevlana was a mystic who never lost his time with his messages and teachings, and therefore the interest in the Mevlana Museum will never decrease.
