The cost of living in Istanbul increased by 80.59%

The average cost of living for a family of four in Istanbul was calculated as 42,593 liras. According to the statement made by the Istanbul Planning Agency, the cost of living in Istanbul increased by 9.69 percent compared to the previous month and by 54.34 percent compared to December of the previous year. Compared to August of the previous year, the annual (last 12 months) increase in the cost of living in Istanbul was 80.59 percent. Thus, the average living cost of a family of four in Istanbul in August was calculated as 42,593 liras. The average cost of living in Istanbul increased by 3,765 lira compared to the previous month. Considering the price increases of some products frequently used by households compared to August of the previous year, it was seen that one of the most striking price increases was experienced in olive oil prices with an increase rate of 4.37.
