The depreciation of ruble reduced tour sales
It is stated that there was a decrease in tour sales in Russia, after ruble depreciated against euro and dollar.
Russian Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) reported that travel agencies operating in the country experienced a decrease of up to 12% in tour sales due to the depreciation of the ruble.

“After the increase in the dollar and the euro, tour operators in Russia have felt a slowdown in sales, but it has not been confirmed that this situation is critical yet. It is estimated that tourists have time to adapt, and sales will decline in certain destinations due to changes in exchange rates.”
ATOR Vice President Artur Muradyan reminded that the dollar and euro exchange rates have increased steadily since May, adding, “Tourists have already adapted to this situation and a certain tolerance has emerged. But the depth of sales has decreased significantly."
Raise warning from tour operators
Tour operators in Russia warned that international and domestic holiday costs will increase due to the depreciation of ruble.
Pointing out that international travel prices have increased by 10 percent since the middle of last week, market representatives stated that the price increase was recorded in all segments, both in luxury and economic destinations.
At the same time, it was noted that not only hotel services, but also airline tickets, which have an important share in the structure of tours, have become more expensive.
In his statement to Prime news agency, ATOR Vice President Artur Muradyan emphasized that the increase in tour prices followed a linear course with the increase in the exchange rate, and said, “Airline tickets are now quite expensive and the ticket component has begun to affect the cost of travel. Even economic destinations such as Egypt, Sri Lanka, Goa will suffer from this.”
The expert underlined that the depreciation of the ruble will also negatively affect the number of Russian tourists targeted by countries such as Turkey and Egypt.
