The old station in Adana turns into a Taste Station
Adana Seyhan Municipality has started restoration works to transform the historical "old station" building into a Taste Station. It was noted that there will be a culinary museum within the historical building, which will fulfill an important function in promoting the flavors of Adana to the world.
The historical old station building, which is a registered cultural property opened in 1886 for the transportation of cotton produced in Çukurova from Adana to England, was expropriated by the Seyhan Municipality. After the parcel next to it and the parcel facing the E-5 highway were also expropriated in order to give the building a function, restoration works were started within the framework of the prepared project. After the restoration is completed, it has been announced that the old station building will serve the public as a gastronomic center with the new buildings to be built and the dining wagons to be positioned in the garden.
A Culinary Museum will also be established
It was noted that a culinary museum will also be established in the two-storey block of the registered building, and that the historical building will also fulfill an important task for the promotion of Adana's culinary culture. Mayor Akif Kemal Akay, who examined the restoration works, noted that the municipality provides services with all its means in order to make Seyhan a more livable city. Pointing out that Adana, which has hosted many civilizations throughout history, is one of the leading cities with its fertile agricultural lands and deep-rooted production history, Mayor Akay emphasized that the old station is a building that makes significant contributions to the city and country's economy.
Stating that the restoration works have started in order to give function to the old Station building and integrate it with the city life again, Mayor Akay said, “We will bring together the unique tastes of Adana with the historical texture at the taste station. Adana will have another service area worthy of its name. We will introduce the culinary culture of our city to the world at our taste station.”
