Airlines began selling tickets for an undisclosed flight, and the mysterious flight offer became so popular that "within minutes," more than 1,000 people signed up for this secret experience.
SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) initiated this offer targeting frequent flyer program members with the only clue being that the flight would depart from Copenhagen Airport and last "a few hours." The journey will commence on April 5th and return three days later. Passengers will only learn about their destination after boarding the plane.
SAS Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer Paul Verhagen stated that the demand for the flight is "exciting." Verhagen said, "Embarking on an adventurous and mysterious journey with other enthusiasts, with the possibility of finding new connections and friendships along the way, is truly thrilling."
Passengers who registered were required to spend 30,000 miles for a seat. However, due to the overwhelming popularity of the offer, registrations closed just 24 hours later, and lucky winners will be randomly selected from the applicants.
While this is quite an intriguing offer, it's not the first time an airline has presented such a mysterious flight proposition. For instance, Wizz Air offered a similar experience last year when it flew passengers from Venice to Saudi Arabia. The low-cost airline will operate another flight next month from London Gatwick, where passengers will only be informed about the climate they should prepare their luggage for.
Air New Zealand has been offering "mystery escapes" for several years. These trips are conducted to domestic destinations only, and passengers typically find out where they are going either the day before the journey (in some cases, three days before) or when they reach the airport.
